Let’s start with the good news: There’s still an expectation that Major League Baseball will begin its season sometime this summer. Among the “Big Four” sports, it could be the first one to return following the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Monday was another day of negotiations without a deal. The latest proposal from the owners was a 76-game season with players receiving up to 75% of their prorated salary, according to multiple reports. The proposal included the potential to expand the postseason to eight teams per league and eliminating the loss of draft picks for teams signing top free agents.
