BOSTON – It was easy to see Luis Castillo slowly building toward his start Tuesday. It was a night when he reminded everyone he’s still one of the league’s best pitchers.
Castillo didn’t have a spring training because of a right shoulder strain, which cost him the first month of the season. He had minimal starts on his rehab assignment. But he’s looked better in each successive start since joining the rotation.
His first career start at Fenway Park marked the return of the real Castillo. His fastball was up to 99 mph. Hitters who hadn’t seen his changeup could only flail at it.
