Leading the National League, Scooter Gennett says a batting title would be 'pretty cool'

With five weeks remaining in the season, Reds second baseman Scooter Gennett entered Wednesday leading the National League with a .313 batting average.

Pete Rose was the last Reds hitter to win a batting title, hitting .338 in 1973. Joey Votto finished runner-up to Carlos Gonzalez, of the Colorado Rockies, in 2010.

Winning a batting title, Gennett said, is not a personal goal but it does reflect how well he’s been at the plate.
