SAN DIEGO – Jesse Winker heard the question and went silent for a few seconds. He smiled and shrugged but couldn’t come up with any words.
Winker is the guy who is always laughing. He keeps things loose in the clubhouse and dugout. It’s rare to see him stumped to say something.
He couldn’t come up with an explanation for his sudden opposite-field power. Winker hit seven home runs in 2017 and seven home runs in 2018.
