One day after Joey Votto was placed on the injured list because he self-reported COVID-19 symptoms, he was back in the Cincinnati Reds lineup for Monday's series opener against Cleveland.
Votto repeatedly tested negative for COVID-19. He wasn't allowed to fly with the team from Detroit on Sunday because he was in the COVID-19 protocol, so he drove back to Cincinnati. Outfielder Aristides Aquino was optioned to the team's alternate camp in Mason to make room for Votto on the 30-man roster.
There are no minimum or maximum number of days a player can spend on the IL when it's related to COVID-19.
