With Joey Votto unavailable to play for the fourth straight day, the Reds placed Votto on the 10-day injured list with a low back strain and called up utility player Brian O’Grady from Triple-A Louisville.
Votto felt back pain on his final swing in batting practice preceding Thursday’s series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals and he was scratched from Thursday’s lineup with lower back tightness.
“I haven't swung a bat yet,” Votto said Sunday.
