Joey Votto took to his recently created Instagram account on Tuesday to break some news: He became a U.S. citizen in January.
In the post, a beaming Votto is standing with U.S. District Court Judge Tim Black. A second photo shows both men masked in a courtroom as Votto took the oath of citizenship.
The post doesn't say it, but the 38-year-old Reds first baseman will be a dual citizen of Canada, where he was born and lives in part of the offseason.
Tuesday's post, made before a night game against the Padres in San Diego, is the latest social media move by Votto this season.
