Joey Votto makes an extra effort to get Zack Cozart's All-Star baseball

MIAMI – Zack Cozart hasn’t gotten his donkey yet, but Joey Votto got him another gift on Tuesday anyway.

Cozart, the Reds’ shortstop and first-time All-Star, singled in his first bat in Tuesday’s All-Star Game in Miami, breaking a Reds streak of 25 at-bats without a hit in the Midsummer Classic.

After Cozart lined a Dellin Betances fastball into left field to start the third inning of Tuesday’s 2-1 10-inning American League victory, the next batter, Rockies leadoff man Charlie Blackmon, fouled the ball down the right-field line.

All-Star box score:AL 2, NL 1

Votto, who didn’t enter the game until the eighth inning, saw a security guard pick up the ball and hand it to a kid in the stands.
