SAN DIEGO –– Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell has said he doesn't believe that an ejection by the manager can light a fire under the team. After many of his 14 career ejections, Reds players have said the ejection showed how much Bell had their backs.
On Saturday against the San Diego Padres, Bell had his most emphatic ejection of the season. And Reds first baseman Joey Votto looked even more emphatic.
Votto and Bell were both ejected from Saturday’s game at Petco Park as the Reds lost 7-5 to the Padres.
In the top of the first inning, Votto thought he checked his swing on a ruled strikeout swinging.
