The two sides had been a comically small $175,000 apart in their initially submitted figures, which had me initially speculating that the reason why no settlement had been reached for 2016 was because the two sides were discussing a multi-year deal (akin to the one Sam LeCure signed prior to the 2014 season, for instance).
