Jim Riggleman says Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jesse Winker reminds him of Mark Grace

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI – There’s something about pressure situations that brings out the best in Jesse Winker in the batter’s box.

Playing off the bench against the Colorado Rockies last week, Winker hit a walk-off home run in the 13th inning.

On the following night, Winker hit a game-tying, RBI single in the ninth inning against St. Louis Cardinals closer Bud Norris.

With runners on base, Winker owns a team-best .367 batting average. It was one of the reasons interim manager Jim Riggleman placed Winker lower in the batting order. Batting fifth or sixth, he receives more RBI opportunities hitting behind Joey Votto, Scooter Gennett and Eugenio Suarez.
