Jesse Winker, Phillip Ervin homer in Cincinnati Reds spring loss to San Francisco Giants

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Jesse Winker and Phillip Ervin hit a pair of solo home runs in the Reds' first night game of the spring, but they lost 5-3 to the San Francisco Giants at Scottsdale Stadium on Friday.

Giants designated hitter Chris Shaw hit a mammoth, go-ahead homer in the eighth inning against Reds reliever Odrisamer Despaigne. The Reds dropped their record to 2-4-1.

Injury report

Right-handed pitchers Matt Bowman (strained right lat) and Robert Stephenson (right shoulder inflammation) were expected to throw side sessions Friday afternoon.
