Ending a nine-pitch at-bat in the second inning Sunday, which included four foul balls, Jesse Winker drilled a two-run double into the right-center gap. Winker stood on top of second base and pointed toward the crowd with one hand and tapped his heart with the other.
In the third inning, Winker lifted a two-run homer over the left-field wall with his dad, Joe, in the crowd on Father's Day. It was a special moment, but Winker knew his dad needed to be at the airport around 5 p.m. Sunday, so he was glad he could make an impact early in the game following a rain delay that lasted 1 hour, 34 minutes.
