PHILADELPHIA – The chant “Bruuuce” is certainly familiar with Reds fans. They yelled it countless times during Jay Bruce’s nine seasons in Cincinnati.
Bruce, playing at Citizens Bank Park for the first time since he was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies earlier this week, showed his trademark power and he heard the familiar chant from his new fanbase. Bruce hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the fifth inning in the Reds’ 4-2 loss in their series opener Friday in front of 32,058 fans.
In four games with the Phillies, Bruce has four home runs, two doubles and nine RBI.
