Nick Lodolo struck out his first four batters in 16 pitches Monday, overpowering Texas Rangers hitters who had never faced him before, but his outing quickly unraveled.
Lodolo gave up three consecutive extra-base hits in the second inning, leading to three runs. Josh Jung, who hit a solo homer in the second inning on an inside curveball, crushed a two-run homer in the third inning on an elevated fastball.
“I thought I was throwing the ball well, honestly,” Lodolo said after he gave up six runs and nine hits in four innings. “It’s kind of confusing.
