GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto smiled as he walked into the Reds spring training complex for the first time this season. He gave a hug and a few handshakes on his first day back, as major league spring training began on Friday.
Votto was the first starting position player on the Reds roster to arrive in Goodyear. Less than a day after the lockout ended, Votto reported for spring training.
“It happened so quickly,” Votto said. “But I’m happy to be back.”
