When the Cincinnati Reds invited José Garcia to spring training in February, the idea was to give the emerging prospect some experience alongside Major League players.
He transformed from an emerging prospect into the prospect.
Garcia may be the shortstop of the future for the organization. He hit four homers and a double in 13 games in the original spring training, and he’s just as impressive defensively.
The Reds started playing intrasquad scrimmages last week. Garcia, who trained for the first week at Prasco Park in Mason, has traveled to Great American Ball Park to play in four of the first six scrimmages.
