PHILADELPHIA – Once Sonny Gray reached two strikes on Philadelphia Phillies cleanup hitter Rhys Hoskins in the fifth inning Sunday, he made a note to himself to keep tabs on Bryce Harper at third base.
The Reds weren’t holding Harper close to third base, positioning third baseman Eugenio Suárez toward the back of the infield with two outs, and Gray was pitching out of the windup with a focus on his pitches to Hoskins.
