It was news that devastated the baseball world Friday: Mike Bell, a Cincinnati native and beloved member of a three-generation baseball family, died of cancer at 46 years old.
Bell was the Minnesota Twins bench coach and viewed as a future manager, like his brother, David, and his dad, Buddy. He underwent surgery to remove a tumor from his kidney on Jan. 28, which led to an indefinite absence from the team as he remained in Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly, and three children, Luke, Mikayla and Madeline.
"We all need people in our lives like Mike Bell," Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said.
