Ibandel Isabel, Reds prospect and Daytona outfielder, breaks 68-year-old home run record

Cincinnati Reds prospect Ibandel Isabel, a 23-year-old outfielder for the High-A Daytona Tortugas, broke a 68-year-old Florida State League home-run record Tuesday by hitting his 34th homer of the season in a win against Charlotte, and he added his 35th later in the game.

He leads the Minor Leagues with 36 home runs overall.

In his first 33 games and 116 at-bats for the Tortugas, Isabel hit 12 home runs, including seven in seven games for the Reds' affiliate.

The Reds acquired Isabel and pitcher Zach Neal on April 17 from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for Ariel Hernandez, a pitcher they designated for assignment and optioned to Triple-A Louisville in early March.
