ST. LOUIS – Arriving at the St. Louis team hotel at 4:03 a.m. Friday morning after an emotional series in New York, the Cincinnati Reds needed to find a spark.
Hunter Greene, making his final start before the All-Star Game, brought the fire with his fastball, but was unable to do the rest of the heavy lifting in the Reds’ 7-3 loss to the Cardinals at Busch Stadium in their three-game series opener.
The Reds’ offense, which created several late-inning comebacks over the past week, put the tying run on first base with no outs after opening the ninth inning with three consecutive singles.
