How the 3-batter minimum rule is affecting the way the Cincinnati Reds use Amir Garrett

CLEVELAND – Amir Garrett has thrown the fourth-fewest innings in the Cincinnati Reds bullpen this season and he’s tied for the fewest batters faced.

Garrett is producing his usual numbers. He’s struck out six of his 13 batters, allowing one walk and one hit – a solo homer to Chicago Cubs star Javier Báez.

He went seven days between appearances before he recorded the final two outs in the eighth inning Tuesday. Two of those seven days were rainouts. The Reds won by five runs over the Cubs on July 29 and lost by five runs to the Detroit Tigers on July 31, so cross those out.
