BALTIMORE — Even with the Cincinnati Reds game against the Baltimore Orioles in rain-delay limbo as it headed to the eighth inning, Reds rookie Andrew Abbott was basking in the history he made Tuesday night with another six stellar innings.
Abbott, who has four of the Reds’ five quality starts since he debuted June 5, gave up only one run to the Orioles Tuesday before handing a 2-1 lead to Lucas Sims and the rest of the bullpen in the seventh.
That gave him a 1.21 ERA in five career starts – second-lowest in franchise history, and the lowest in 38 years, since Tom Browning had a 1.
