DENVER – The Cincinnati Reds had some weird quirks in their schedule with three off-days within a week and a rainout in Cleveland.
It meant some extended rest for a few Reds relievers, especially when Wade Miley’s no-hitter was added to the mix. Sean Doolittle went nine days without an appearance. It was a full week for Tejay Antone and Lucas Sims.
It wasn’t an intentional break for those pitchers, but it wasn’t the worst-case scenario. All teams are keeping a close eye on innings after last year’s shortened season. Plus, it gave those three relievers a chance to tinker with some of their pitches.
