Preparing to play in a rehab game Friday, Tucker Barnhart was standing in the dugout at Louisville Slugger Field before batting practice when he received a call from Reds manager David Bell.

Once Juan Graterol was placed on the 7-day concussion list, Barnhart was asked whether he was ready to return to the Reds immediately or if he needed at least one more rehab game. Barnhart jumped in the car and was inserted into Friday’s starting lineup.
