ATLANTA – Donnie Ecker was a hitting coach for Class-A Palm Beach in 2016, in the St. Louis Cardinals’ organization, when he saw Aristides Aquino play for the first time. Aquino was 22 years old and stood out with his size and swing.
Ecker remembers then-Palm Beach manager Ollie Marmol marveling at the right fielder. Aquino hit two homers against them in one game, but it was more than his production.
“He looks like a Vladimir Guerrero when you watch him,” Ecker said.
