Holmberg Gets Homered, Reds Lose 8-3

Reds’ starter David Holmberg simply didn’t have it on Saturday night. The 25 year old lefty was pasted for seven earned runs in two-plus innings pitched. He walked four batters without any strikeouts at all. But it was the three home runs he allowed that guaranteed a short night for him and a long night for the team. Games like tonight are why I ranked Holmberg 26th out of the 27 starting rotation candidates the Reds have in the system.

Holmberg threw a whopping 64 pitches in his brief time on the mound, and 35 of them were balls.
