GOODYEAR, Ariz. — When Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price listed eight contenders for the rotation, Amir Garrett’s name was not one of them.
Garrett may have changed that Sunday with his six-up, six-down, four-strikeout performance Sunday against the Chicago White Sox. That was what Garrett was shooting for.
“I am out here to prove a lot,” Garrett said. “(Sunday) to me was a statement. I stated my case that I should be one of the frontrunners for the fifth spot or wherever it is on the roster. Wherever they need me. I should never be left out no matter what.
