GLENDALE, Arizona – Carson Fulmer joined the Cincinnati Reds in spring training last week, but he was a guy that the coaching staff and front office discussed internally for the past year.
Fulmer is on his fifth team since last July, so the Reds weren’t alone.
The Reds have a ton of familiarity with him. Pitching coach Derek Johnson recruited him to Vanderbilt. Fulmer lives in Seattle during the offseason and spent the winter training at the Driveline, the facility that was founded by Reds director of pitching Kyle Boddy. Assistant pitching coach Eric Jagers still works there.
