Gray's great, bats come alive in Reds' Game 1 victory over Brewers

When you want to stop a losing streak, you want Sonny Gray on the mound.

Gray played stopper Thursday, ending the Reds’ losing streak at four, by beating the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-1, in Game 1 of a doubleheader. Gray (5-1) went five shutout innings. He allowed four hits, walked two and struck out four.

Since July of 2019, the Reds are 6-0 when Gray starts after two or more losses in a row.

The six-run output qualifies as an offensive explosion for the Reds. Jesse Winker hit a pair of home runs, and Nick Castellanos hit one.
