One day after Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Grahan Ashcraft got hit by a ground ball on the back of his calf, the Reds placed him on the 15-day injured list with a left calf contusion.
'I didn't really feel it much when it came to pitching," Ashcraft said after his start on Thursday. "The only time I'd feel it was having to try to go cover a bag, like jogging and like walking."
Ashcraft initially expected to back to normal in a few days, but now he'll be out until late June. He has a 6.78 ERA this season following a disappointing stretch in May and June where he lost some confidence in his two-seam fastball and struggled locating his slider.
