Reds right-hander Ross Ohlendorf has been suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount, Major League Baseball announced on Friday, after he threw at the Pirates' David Freese during the ninth inning of Wednesday's 5-4 loss at Great American Ball Park. Ohlendorf has elected to appeal the suspension.
In addition to Ohlendorf, Reds manager Bryan Price has also been suspended for one game and received an undisclosed fine as a result of Ohlendorf's actions, which took place after both teams had been warned. Price will serve the suspension on Friday, when Cincinnati opens a series against the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.
