GOODYEAR, Ariz. — LHP Amir Garrett called it a chain reaction — one of the Reds’ young pitchers pitches well and everyone wants to follow.
Three of those pitchers — Sal Romano, Rookie Davis and Luis Castillo — did that on Sunday, and Garrett may have been even better than any of them on Monday.
Garrett pitched four innings against the A’s in a 3-1 Reds victory, allowing only one baserunner and striking out three. That one baserunner reached on an error by 1B Ryan Raburn. Garrett was so efficient that he had to go to the bullpen to throw 15 extra pitches when he was done with his four innings because he didn’t throw enough pitches in the game.
