SURPRISE, Ariz. — Rookie Davis got a test for his right ankle right off the bat on Monday, as Royals leadoff man Raul Mondesi laid down a perfect bunt between him and Joey Votto for a single in an eventual 10-6 Reds victory at Surprise Stadium.
Davis didn’t get the out, but his ankle felt fine. The right-hander left his previous start after rolling his ankle in his last start on April 12.
Davis allowed one run on four hits in four innings with a walk, a hit batter and three strikeouts.
“I felt good. The ball was coming out better I felt in the second and third, kind of the later I got.
