Going for the sweep.
Win streak.
Those two phrases we’ve heard perilously little of around here for most of the 2024 season. The Cincinnati Reds, though, have given me the opportunity to use both this fine Thursday morning, as they’ve won a trio of games in a row overall including the first two within this current series against the Houston Astros in Great American Ball Park.
Today they hand the ball to rookie Rhett Lowder, who flashed both nerves and excellence in his debut a handful of days ago. With that little bit of experience under his belt, I expect to see even more of the best of him today against Houston, his blend of pristine pitch execution and precision with all of his offerings set to keep the Astro bats off-keel.
