It’s unclear what machinations the Reds had to go through to get Joey Votto eligible for Monday night’s game. But it is clear it was worth it.
Votto hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to lift the Reds over the Cleveland Indians 3-2 at Great American Ball Park. The Reds’ other run scored on Nick Castellanos’ fifth home run in six games and third in two days.
The bullpen -- Michael Lorenzen, Nate Jones and Raisel Iglesias -- pitched three scoreless innings to preserve the lead. Iglesias earned his first save.
The Reds have won three straight and four of five to even their record at 5-5.
