WASHINGTON, D.C. – Freddy Galvis spent Tuesday afternoon introducing himself to his new teammates and coaches, but it wasn’t all unfamiliar faces.
When Galvis spotted Eugenio Suárez being interviewed in the clubhouse, Galvis stood directly behind a TV camera as Suárez answered questions. Once Suárez finished the interview, Galvis laughed and the two players shook hands. Galvis and Suárez trained together in Miami for the last two or three offseasons.
Galvis was claimed off waivers Monday and activated him to the 25-man roster Tuesday, optioning utility player Brian O’Grady to Triple-A Louisville.
