Former Reds outfielder Jay Bruce announces his retirement

Jay Bruce announced his retirement this morning. The Cincinnati Reds 1st round pick in 2005, Bruce spent parts of 14 seasons in Major League Baseball and the first nine of those seasons came with the Reds. He retires with a .244/.314/.467 line (108 OPS+), 312 doubles, 32 triples, and 319 home runs. One of those home runs was is one of the most memorable home runs in Reds history.

Named to the All-Star team in 2011, 2012, and 2016, Jay Bruce also brought home the Silver Slugger Award in both 2012 and 2013. He was traded to the New York Mets in the second half of 2016, and then played out his career with the both teams in New York, Cleveland, Seattle, and Philadelphia.
