Dmitri Young, a fan favorite for the Cincinnati Reds from 1998 to 2001 who played 13 big-league seasons, was named Wednesday as the head baseball coach at Adolfo Camarillo High School in Camarillo, California.
Young, 46, has made Redsfest and Reds Caravan appearances in recent years. He attended Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard, California - about 9 miles from Adolfo Camarillo HS.
Young hit .300 or better in all four of his seasons as a Red. In 565 games with Cincinnati, he hit .304 with 67 home runs and 296 RBIs.
