Former Cincinnati Reds fan favorite Brandon Phillips didn't waste any time endearing himself to Boston Red Sox fans in his debut with the team Wednesday afternoon against the Braves in his hometown of Atlanta.
In the 2nd inning, Phillips walked and advanced to third on a single by Rafael Devers. Then, on Brock Holt's groundout to first, Braves first baseman Lucas Duda couldn't keep Phillips from heads-up baserunning in scoring on a head-first slide into home.
Wearing No. 0, the 37-year-oldPhillips made his first start for Boston after the Red Sox selected him Tuesday to their active Major League roster from Triple-A Pawtucket.
