GOODYEAR, Ariz. – It’s a small club no pitcher ever wants to be associated with, but Tejay Antone has done his best to maintain a positive mindset.
Antone, the Reds’ top reliever last season, became a member of the two-time Tommy John surgery club last August. As much as Tommy John surgeries – reconstructing the ulnar collateral ligament in an elbow – have become common among pitchers, the list of pitchers who have successfully returned from a second Tommy John surgery is small.
It was tough timing for Antone’s injury. It cost him a chance to be a part of the wild-card race.
