Plenty of teams have given up on Scott Feldman.
Last year, both the Houston Astros and Toronto Blue Jays decided the right-hander wasn’t good enough to be a starter, banishing him to a relief role. The Chicago Cubs dumped him on the Baltimore Orioles in a 2013 buy-low trade that famously netted Chicago eventual Cy Young winner Jake Arrieta.
But the 34-year-old Feldman continued to believe he was a starter worthy of a spot in a big-league rotation. He signed a one-year, $2.3 million deal with the Cincinnati Reds this winter, loading the deal with performance bonuses based on starts made.
