It’s been three years since Cincinnati held its last normal Opening Day celebration and the one next month will have some normalcy and some uniqueness.
The Reds won’t begin the season at home for the first time in 32 years, but the Findlay Market Parade is expected to return after it was wiped out in the previous two seasons by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“On behalf of the entire Reds organization, we are excited to start the 2022 season on April 7,” Reds owner Bob Castellini said in a statement. “We cannot wait to welcome our fans to Great American Ball Park for the Reds' home opener on April 12, when we will celebrate with all the traditions and fun that make Opening Day in Cincinnati the greatest day in all of baseball.
