During ESPN's broadcast of Wednesday's game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies, play-by-play commentator Jon Sciambi recounted a story about former Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jay Bruce's admiration for Hall of Famer and former Moeller High School standout and Cincinnati Reds great Ken Griffey Jr.
Sciambi told the story Bruce has shared previously about when Bruce called directory assistance at the age of 9 from his home in Texas and asked for the Kingdome in Seattle - wanting to talk to Junior, who played for the Mariners at the time.
“I had all his shoes, I hit just like him,” Bruce told The Enquirer in 2016.
