DETROIT – Swept against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday, the Cincinnati Reds played with the sloppiness of a last-place team.
It was hard to keep track of the mistakes: errant relay throws, outs on the base paths, missed cutoff men.
For the Reds, it added up to an ugly, 7-4 loss at Comerica Park to complete a two-game interleague series.
"When you play like that, you're not supposed to win," Reds interim manager Jim Riggleman said. "It's not bad effort, it's bad performance. We just have to somehow find a way to clean it up. It was very sloppy.
