GOODYEAR, Arizona – With Major League Baseball in an indefinite hiatus because of the novel coronavirus pandemic, most Cincinnati Reds players are expected to leave Arizona and head home.

Players were informed from the players’ association Friday afternoon that they could remain at their spring training site, travel to the team’s home city or go home. MLB announced it was suspending spring training Thursday and the regular season was delayed by at least two weeks. Most expect the regular-season delay to last longer than two weeks.

The Reds are expected to open their facility – which was cleaned Friday – next week for informal workouts.
