TORONTO — Zack Cozart loves playing defense, that’s why serving as the team’s designated hitter, like he did Monday, is so strange for him.
Instead of running back out on the field with his teammates after every half-inning, he sat in the dugout, waiting for his next at-bat.
“Usually I have defense to fall back on or have my focus on that,” Cozart said. “Instead, I'll just be chilling in the dugout between at-bats. It's weird, for sure.”
Cozart went 0 for 3 in the Reds’ 17-2 loss, seeing his 11-game hitting streak come to an end with an eighth-inning walk.
