ST. LOUIS – When Devin Mesoraco walked into the visitors’ clubhouse at Busch Stadium on Friday, he was greeted by something he hadn’t seen in a year – his name on the lineup sheet.
Mesoraco started Friday behind the plate for the first time since April 27, 2016, when he went 0-for-4 in New York against the Mets.
“It was cool, I was excited to play for sure,” said Mesoraco. “It's been a while, a long-time coming, a lot of hard work to get here and I'm definitely excited to get back out there.”
After his All-Star season of 2014, Mesoraco played 23 games in 2015 before a hip injury caused him to miss the rest of the season.
