Despite early pitching struggles, Reds come through in win over Pirates

PITTSBURGH - We’ll have more in a bit on the Cincinnati Reds’ 7-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday at PNC Park. Until then, here are the main storylines.

Both starters struggled big time. Pirates right-hander Tyler Glasnow and Reds left-hander Brandon Finnegan each had significant trouble finding the strike zone, although Finnegan fared better than the Pittsburgh rookie. But only slightly so.

Glasnow put five of his first six hitters aboard, including issuing four straight walks with one out to score two runs. A third run scored on a fielder’s choice to give the Reds a 3-0 lead.
