Anthony DeSclafani and Scooter Gennett reached 1-year salary agreements with the Reds, avoiding arbitration. DeSclafani agreed to $2.125 million for 2019, while Gennett’s contract is for $9.775 million. DeSclafani is in his second year of arbitration, with one more year of team control. This was Gennett’s final season. He’s eligible to become a free agent in 2020.
The Reds have not come to agreement (yet) with Yasiel Puig, Alex Wood and Tanner Roark.
The salary amount for the five players who have signed in the past few days (Gennett, Jose Peraza, DeSclafani, Michael Lorenzen, Curt Casali) was about $2 million less than the projections from MLBTR that we used in previous budget estimates.
